Flower Bookmark, Spring Bookmark, Pearl and Flower

 Spring arrives and is the time for new beginnings and fresh ideas.  To me, Spring means more colors surround us,  Flowers blooming everywhere and seeing the leaves on trees turning a beautiful new green ....

To celebrate the Spring season, I started this "Spring is Here!" flower bookmark series.  

I LOVE flowers.  I love the colors, the shapes and the beauty of it.  I love the way it makes me feel when I look at flowers.  I love the way it has a wonderful fragrance of its own.  I love the way it naturally grow.  I love that it can grow anywhere the seed lands.  AND, most of all, I love the way it inspires me.

Flowers make me smile....I guess that is one of the reason why women love it so much.  And when it comes from someone we love, it means so much more, as we know they care that even a single stem of rose or a small bouquet of wild flowers makes us happy.

I know I am not finished with Spring and flowers and how they make me feel after each  pearl and flower bookmark is completed, as I have a couple more on my work table but for now, you can find these pretty spring bookmarks at my Etsy shop.

Fact :  Study shows that if you keep a vase of flowers at your work, looking at them in the morning, will reduce stress and anxiety at work.  

Fish Bookmark, Beaded Fish, Goldie

This beaded fish is Goldie, another fish bookmark from "The Fish Fry Club" series.

I decided that for this fish charm, I needed a different fish shape.  After trying a few different shapes (and after many discarded wire.....) I chose this one.  I like how the tail fin curls - like an inverted heart.   What do you think?  

I used metallic gold, silver and black miyuki seed beads - it makes this fish stands out beautifully.  After adding a black faceted Czech glass bead for the eye,  I experimented and added the Czech leaf charm to represent the fin of the fish and was happy that it fall nicely onto the fish.     To finish this beaded fish, I wire wrapped a black flower ( to complement the leaf) and dangle the fish onto a grayish-black metal bookmark.

Fish fact : The Chinese believed that the Fish symbolized "the wish for more" or "abundance", in the sense of more good luck, good fortune, long life and children.  A pair of fish represents unity and fidelity in marriage and are often given in the form of charms or figurines to a wedding couple.

Fish Bookmark, Pretty Fish, Joey

Meet sweet Joey, the latest fish bookmark of the Fish Fry Club series.

The color was an inspiration from a stuffed rabbit toy of my daughter, which she named Joey.  So, thanks to Joey the Rabbit, Joey the Pretty Fish is born.  

To make this sea fish bookmark, I started by wire-wrapping a pretty pink acrylic flower with a black Chinese crystal onto a silver-plated metal bookmark with engraved flowers.  I handcrafted the fish frame from stainless steel artistic wire and beaded it with Miyuki seed beads.  To represent the fish eye, I used a gray glass bead which has a nice sheen on it and voila, it is done.

I really enjoy making this fish bookmark.  It lets my artistic expressions run wild....

Fish Bookmark, Fish Charm, Orange and White Fish

I have just finished this beaded fish bookmark.  This beaded fish is the fist member of the Fish Fry Club.  I called him Neemo. It is an inspiration from the adorable clown fish from Disney's "Finding Nemo".  

I know that the clown fish is just orange and white but I love the way the mandarin orange color stands out against the cream, black and coffee color miyuki delica seed beads.  It really makes the beaded fish look so strikingly bright and colorful.

Just envision this colorful bookmark hanging outside the edge of the book you are reading or if it is on the table or your bookshelf, everyone will see this funky bookmark and it will definitely raise a smile or two...

Pearl Bookmark, Jingle Bells, SOLD

Oops, I forgot about this "When Christmas Comes"  series bookmark...

This brass bookmark has gold colored bells, giving them a nice tinkling sound with every movement.  Hence, the name for it - 

Jingle Bells.

This is a very colorful bookmark, a very merry Christmas bookmark. I used burgundy red, deep velvet purple, lemon gold and beautiful teal shining faux pearls.  Contrasting colorful miyuki seed beads were added to make the colors really pop.

Pearl Bookmark, Snow Angel

The last Christmas bookmark for the "When Christmas Comes" series....

This is a real girly girl bookmark...the sweet bright pink octagonal beads really bring out the blue in the feather bookmark.  I added some silver metal charms; a tiny heart for love, a bell for Christmas, a swirly swirl for snowflakes and two little angels, to add texture and more shine to the silver tone bookmark.  I just love this color combination - white luscious pearls, blue speckled beads like snow  falling in the snow globe and the sweet pink beads....

"When Christmas Comes" Series

I wanted warm and love in this Christmas theme.  I chose pink and gold and from there it was easy providing a story to the pretty bookmark.

Soft sweet pink and ash blue grey pearls mingled together with white acrylic oval beads in this Christmas bookmark.  I added gold-plated metal charms for texture and rose gold metal beads for a little glint and glimmer in this pearl bookmark.

This purple and white bookmark is also part of the "When Christmas Comes" series.

I used white and deep dark purple faux pearls, mauve Swarovski Elements crystal pearl, and pearly pink purple Czech beads. The silver-plated filigree cone drops adds shine and glimmer to the bookmark.  I added a silver-plated Christmas tree charm to complete the Christmas theme.

This would make a perfect book accessory gift for the bookworm.

Christmas is coming!!!

So I am making a series of bookmarks inspired by Christmas - "When Christmas Comes".  I love the amazing display of Christmas tree with their beautiful sparkling ornaments found on display in the shop now.

Pearly is the first colorful pearl bookmark in Christmas colors.  I love the combination of sweet pink, deep dark purple, burgundy red, ash blue grey pearls and white alabaster faceted chinese crystal in this bookmark. Fanciful and sweet.

This is Michelle, the fun and feisty babe from the Sugar and Spice Series. 

This Celtic-design metal bookmark features a deep dark red  acrylic 5 petal flower with multi-shape beads in black, red and white color.  An inspiration of the Gothic color. 

Doll Charm Bookmark, Eve

Eve is third in the Sugar and Spice Series.  She is the 'Rock' - solid and steady, calm and sensible.

Eve is 'created' using a frosted yellow 5 petal acrylic flower, which I wire wrapped together with a twisted Czech bead of yellow-greenish-brown bead and a beautiful amber brown lampwork bead with, Eve, a happy polymer clay girl charm with a pretty brown flower dress hanging at the end of it. To complement Eve's color, I used a copper-plated bookmark with engraved flowers.

 This is Lily - the second in the Sugar and Spice series.

She is my sweet, kind, generous and bubbly girl.

I chose sweet and soothing pastel colors to match the smiling green dress polymer clay girl charm. I wire wrapped lustrous Swarovski Elements' crystal pearls in green and purple to match the frosted purple acrylic flower and Czech oval glass bead of pale pink and green. The pastel pink and purple bells gives a sweet tinkling sound with every movement and I connected it to a silver feather bookmark.

So everyone, meet Katie, my pink doll bookmark.

She is the first of my Sugar and Spice series.......

I bought this pretty girl charm made of polymer clay from Fire Mountain Gems.  There were several of them in different color dresses, all pretty and smiling happily.  I chose the pink doll to start with as she was so sweet to look at.  

To complement her existing coloring, I started playing with pinks and browns.

I decided I wanted as many different shapes of beads too.  

Don't you think the silver-plated feather bookmark was a perfect match for her and the beads?

 A large clear faceted acrylic teardrop dangles from a gold-plated chain-link, which is connected to a silver bookmark with etched flowers on it.  I wire wrapped the faux pearls of creamy white, light gray and blush pink colors along with clear chinese crystals with a gold toned craft wire.

Kaiku is a wire bookmark that I designed without having any idea how it was going to look until it was completed and I am very pleased how it turned out to be.  The purple beads complements the black tone of the metal bookmark and the silver adds glitter to complete this one-of-a-kind purple bookmark.
